Purificación (Purita) Campos Sánchez (b. Barcelona, 1937) is a Spanish artist who has been published throughout Europe.

Life & Career[]

Starting as a fashion artist, she was encouraged by a British editor, Philip Douglas, to try comics. She has drawn extensively for girls' and romance comics in Spain, the UK and the Netherlands from the late 1950s to the late 80s. She has also worked in Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia, and is best known for a character variously known as Esther, Peggy and Patty in various countries. She currently concentrates on illustration, painting, engraving and lithography. In 2009 she was awarded the Medallo de Oro al Mérito en el Trabajo Ártistico (Gold Medal for Merit in Artistic Work) by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
