She is sometime erroneously credited as Gloria Blye or Bye. Her obituary mentions her writing comic books as well, but no credits are known.

She was born in New York City, and she received her B.A. in art from Hunter College and a Masters' in education from Bank Street College. After her stint in comics, she married Richard McDermott Miller, a prominent sculptor, in 1962. Throughout her life, she wrote or collaborated on a variety of books.
