Laydeez Do Comics is a London-based graphic novel forum with a focus on autobiographical comics. Founded in 2009 by Nicola Streeten and Sarah Lightman, meetings are held monthly and talks are given by creators, publishers, academics, and fans. It has been described as "a combination between a book club and a series of TED talks."[1]

Other branches or pop-up events have been held in Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, Dublin, Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, Toronto, the Czech Republic, and Israel.

Award[]

In late 2017, the organization announced the creation of the Laydeez Do Comics Prize, a grant to support a graphic novel work-in-progress by a UK-based creator. First prize will by £2,000, with £200 prizes going to five shortlisted entries. Emma Burleigh was announced the winner on March 24, 2018, at the Laydeez Festival, for her graphic novel My Other Mother, My Other Self.
