Muriel Amy Jackson, daughter of the comic artist A. E. Jackson, was born in Kentish Town, London, on September 19 1902. She studied at Hastings Art School, along with her sister Elaine, and both sisters followed in their father's footsteps. Muriel drew for Tiger Tim's Weekly, Rainbow and Playbox, with one of her specialities being silhouettes, until they were discontinued in the 1950s. After that she joined a postcard company called Judges Ltd, where she retouched photographs to look like watercolour paintings. She retired in 1965, and died in Hastings in July 1989.
