Pizza Island was a studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, shared by six female cartoonists from mid-2010 to early 2012. Though frequently remarked upon, the studio was not all-female by design. Members included Kate Beaton, Domitille Collardy, Sarah Glidden, Meredith Gran, Lisa Hanawalt, Deana Sobel, Karen Sneider , and Julia Wertz.
The studio went their separate ways in January 2012 when the lease on their studio space was up around the same time Beaton was returning to Canada and Glidden was taking up a residency in Angouleme, France.
