Zena Carol Friedland Brody (March 10, 1928 - June 12, 1971) was an editor during the Golden Age of comics for DC Comics's romance line.

Life & Career Edit

Brody was born in 1928 around Brooklyn to Samuel and Rebecca "Betty" Friedman, both Russian Jewish immigrants.[1] She studied English at the University of Michigan, graduating in 1948. She began working for National Publications (DC Comics) that same year. Though she was editing DC Comics's romance line by at least 1950, her name did not appear in the indicia until 1955. She was succeeded as romance editor by Ruth Brant, then by Phyllis Reed.

She became engaged to Dr. Eugene Brody, a fellow Michigan alumnus in 1950; they married in June 1951. The first of their three children was born in 1955. She died June 12, 1971 of cancer.
